Ralph was born in Evansville, Indiana and raised in the Midwest. He received his undergraduate education at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He went on to law school at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. While in law school, Ralph was Executive Editor of the Law Review and upon graduation worked for Judge Leslie Boslaugh on the Nebraska Supreme Court.
Ralph is licensed to practice in Oregon, Washington, and Nebraska. He came to Portland in 1981 and began working for a large litigation defense firm in Portland.
Ralph went on to work in an insurance litigation practice and went into partnership with Don McClain. He thereafter was a partner in a labor and employment litigation firm. He left that practice to begin a sole practice representing plaintiffs in personal injury, professional negligence, and employment matters exclusively on the plaintiff's side. He has exclusively represented people injured by negligent acts or wrongful employment practices for over 20 years of the 37 years he has practiced. He has tried cases over 100 civil jury trials in State and Federal courts in Oregon and Washington. He has been rated as an A-V Preeminent Trial Attorney with martindale.com and is in the Bar Registry of Preeminent Lawyers. He has been named as a Super Lawyer in a national publication as rated by other attorneys.
Ralph is married to Mary-Anne Rayburn who is an attorney in Portland. He has two grown children, Sam and Joe. Sam attended the University of California on a basketball scholarship and later obtained his law degree from Willamette University. He practices business law and business litigation at Buckley Law in Lake Oswego. Joseph graduated from Pacific Lutheran University where he studied finance and excelled as a goal keeper on the soccer team. Joe currently works at Fisher Investments.

Mindi is a Portland native who has been working in a law office setting for nearly all of her employment career. Mindi's knowledge of civil litigation has grown through her ten plus years as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal. Mindi has also worked in the capacity of a License Investigator, Internal Auditor, Research Analyst, and Administrative Coordinator for the Oregon Liquor Control Commission.
Mindi is a graduate of Portland State University where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Human Resource Management. Prior to attending PSU, Mindi earned an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Paralegal Services along with a Legal Assistant Certificate from Portland Community College.
In her spare time, Mindi enjoys spending time with her family and friends and is considered among them to be an excellent amateur photographer. She also volunteers as a NAMI Family-To-Family Instructor, helping to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness through awareness, support, education, and advocacy.
